ELS Language Centers/AtlantaDescriptionELS Language Centers offers a group-intensive course that is divided into 12 levels, from beginning to highly advanced. Each level takes four weeks to complete. There are two basic programs: Intensive English = 30 hours/week; Semi-Intensive English = 20 hours/week. Electives include TOEFL Preparation, Listening and Pronunciation, Language Lab, Business English, Current Events and Idiomatic English.
Four-week sessions start every month throughout the year. A calendar of start dates may be found on our website at www.els.edu. LocationOne of the fastest growing cities in the U.S., Atlanta is a modern, cosmopolitan city with widely diverse business, education and cultural opportunities. The city has a rich history, strong international flavor and traditional southern charm. As home to CNN, Coca-Cola and other multi-national companies, Atlanta is at the forefront of technological advances and globalization. ELS Language Centers is located on the campus of Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, 25 minutes from downtown Atlanta. Students can take advantage of the university’s excellent facilities and campus housing is an available option. The city of Marietta is a large, thriving community with a charming old town square, theater, museums, restaurants and plenty of shopping. Social and recreational activities are planned regularly for ELS Language Centers students such as tours of CNN studios, visits to Coca-Cola, the Martin Luther King Jr. Center, Six Flags Amusement Park, and various museums and historical sites, as well as movies, plays, concerts and sporting events. Atlanta is home to professional sports teams such as the Braves (baseball), Hawks (basketball), Falcons (football) and Thrashers (ice hockey). Atlanta is a gateway city to many other Southeastern U.S. locations, including Disney World, New Orleans and Nashville, and has easy connections to major destinations in the U.S. and around the world.

Proprietary ELS textbooks, authored by the most respected authors in the field and available only to ELS students, are included in program tuition at Levels 101-109. Students at Levels 110-112 use authentic college-level English materials.
Also included is standardized level completion testing developed in cooperation with The Chauncy Group InternationalTM, a subsidiary of the Educational Testing Service® (ETS). These tests accurately measure a student's abilities upon completing each ELS level. ETS is the maker of SAT, GMAT, TOEFL, TOEIC and other standardized tests. AccommodationsHomestay: $895

Residence Hall - meal plan optional; If you require housing, then you should send in your application as quickly as possible, preferably 6 weeks before your arrival. Housing in the Campus Residence Halls fills quickly. The reservations are given on a first received basis with the accompanying $200 deposit, which will reserve a campus residence hall accommodation for you. Student ServicesBefore applying to ELS Language Centers, students can contact a local counseling agent in their city/country by going to www.els.edu. Upon arrival, students will have access to the Center's international student advising team for counseling services. The advising team provides a wide range of services that include airport pickup, assistance with housing, cultural orientation, help with immigration matters, college admissions counseling, and sponsorship of a variety of social and recreational activities. Educational Service OpportunitiesNearly 600 colleges, universities and career schools in the U.S. accept completion of the ELS Intensive English program in place of the TOEFL. University placement services are provided, and students may earn university credit based on their ELS study upon enrolling at select partner institutions. A listing of ELS partner schools is available at www.els.edu. TransportationAccess to Atlanta via CCT bus, which connects to Marta in Midtown Atlanta. No direct airport access by public transport, but taxi available (45 minutes). Airport pickup service can be arranged.
