Alabama Language InstituteDescriptionThe Alabama Language Institute, founded in 1973, is an AAIEP-approved English language school. ALI offers multiple levels of instruction in speaking/listening, grammar, reading, TOEFL preparation, pronunciation, composition, and other courses. Experienced instructors teach small classes which also have access to modern audio and computer laboratories. English courses offered are for professional development and preparation for college entry.
LocationALI is located on the campus of Gadsden State Community College in Gadsden, Alabama, a community that is warm and receptive to international students. Located in northeast Alabama, in close proximity to various major cities such as Birmingham and Huntsville, AL., Atlanta, GA. and Chattanooga, TN., the area offers all of the conveniences of a large city with the friendliness and economic advantages of a small town.

A computerized placement test is given to students during orientation of the student's first term in Alabama Language Institute. Students are placed into the appropriate level according to their test scores and interview.

The courses offered by Alabama Language Institute provide practice in all four major language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The institute offers two 16-week term, one each in the fall and spring and a summer semester, which has one 10-week term.

Notes on Fees:
Beginning September 1, 2004, a new United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) rule goes into effect. This rule requires F-1 and J-1 visa applicants to pay a one-time fee of $100 to supplement the administration and maintenance costs of the Student and Exchange Information System (SEVIS).
AccommodationsDormitory: $1400
The $1400 includes room and board for fall or spring semester(16 weeks). There is a $200 one-time refundable deposit requirement if you choose to stay in the residence hall.
