English Language Institute

Description

The English Language Institute is located on the beautiful campus of the University of Florida (UF) where academic quality, excellent research opportunities, and a sunny climate attract over 50,000 students. Established in 1955, the UF ELI is one of the oldest university IEPs in the US and is a founding member of UCIEP and FIEC.

Our primary mission is to prepare international students for study at the graduate or undergraduate level in the US, although we also accept professionals who wish to improve their level of English proficiency. Graduate students may apply for conditional admission to the University of Florida where completion of the ELI is accepted in lieu of the TOEFL.

About 175 students enroll in the program each semester from approximately 30 nations. Classes are small, with a maximum of 15 students. Students take 23 hours of classes weekly and participate in daily cultural activities, excursions every Saturday, a conversation partner program and a volunteer program.
